This was a fun and silly mystery. Emily accepts the proposal of Philip, the Vicount Ashton, to escape her overbearing mother, but then Philip dies mysteriously in far off Africa before she has a chance to even get to know him. Then Emily starts to discover some strange things. Was her husband dealing in stolen Greek artifacts?
As a mystery, it's not very well done. It's obvious right from the start who Emily is going to end up with and who the bad guy will be, and I spent a good portion of the novel berating Emily for being such an idiot not to see it herself. But it was a fun and harmless book. I don't know that I'll read the later books, but this one was worthwhile.
