[Poll #1252511]

To my credit, I do always split the food court salad in half so I can eat it for lunch two days in a row. Otherwise it would just be prohibitively huge.

::edit:: I forgot to say, guys, the salad is YUMMY. It's pretty much my favorite salad! And they have plenty of other options in case I want to mix things up. They put the dressing on the side automatically, so it's easy to save half for tomorrow, and I never want the croutons and they always ask if I want something else instead. Sometimes I put orange slices or something! And the salad comes with a tasty breadstick!

Also, I would only get the salad once a week, therefore only eating it for two of five lunches. The other lunches, I would pack a sandwich, bring leftovers like pasta, or bring hummus and a pita. Those are my most common ones. I am getting variety.

I also love the answers you guys filled in so far. The Fat Willard is NOT HEALTHY, Jerod. But bleu cheese is SO TASTY! As are the candied pecans, which I know aren't healthy, but yum!

In terms of nutritional content, the salad is probably better for you, but possibly also worse for you - the breaded chicken is a thing.

But. Healthy eating is about more than just the nutritional content of the food. Eating the same thing every day isn't necessarily good for you, even if it's a nominally really healthy thing.

Which is more fun to eat? Does the time it takes to make the sandwich stress you out? Does the money spent at the food court stress you out? Are they both enough food? Do you enjoy grocery shopping, or is it just a horrible chore? Stress is such a huge component of being healthy overall. Which tastes better?

Eating food you don't like very much because it's "healthy" isn't necessarily good for overall health. That said, if the only food you like to eat is donuts? That's not good for overall health either.

Does your office have a fridge where you can store things for more than just a couple of days? Having some sandwich fixings in the fridge at work gives you the option of making yourself a ham and cheese sandwich, or going to the food court, or whatever, right at lunchtime.

I used to keep those little soups that come in their own cup that you just need to add water to in my desk drawer. But they have a metric shit-ton of salt.

Ultimately, the "healthier" option (especially of those too fairly healthy choices) is the one that makes you happiest - the food that tastes best, and/or stresses you out the least.

The salad is awesome! It's my favorite salad!

Unfortunately, the office fridge gets cleaned out every Friday evening. Even condiments get tossed, which I found out when my not-even-opened-yet bottle of lemon juice that I needed for my tea was thrown out. Argh.

My grocery store makes me want to slit my wrists, every single time I go there. But I still have to buy other food there, not just deli meat, so cutting out sandwiches doesn't help too much with that.

I have oatmeal packets in my desk. Just add hot water and deliciousness ensues.

right next to my building is a deli that makes salads to order, with all sorts of ingredients. It also is large enough that I eat half and save the other half for the next day (thereby saving money in the process). But I can decide what to put in the salad every time, so it isn't dullsville after a while. Maybe there's a deli nearby you can walk to?

I get my granny smith salad at the mall pizza place, oddly, which has a really good selection of salads. There are a variety of choices in case I get tired of the granny smith one. And they let me substitute things, like I never want the croutons and they always ask if I want something else instead. It also comes with a tasty breadstick!

I guess I'm outnumbered (I voted salad). But I think that eating a couple of servings of veggies is worth it. The sandwich might have more protein but the veggies have lots of other nutrients... perhaps unbreaded chicken and unsugared pecans?

I love pecans... such a great crunch!

But the pecans are so tasty!!!

I could take or leave the chicken, honestly. I really like all the other flavors in the salad. If I hold the croutons, they let me substitute something else, and sometimes I choose orange slices or something, which adds another fruit.

Oranges are the underdog of salads... never think to put them in but they are so damn good!

Chicken is a great source of protein though so it's worth having some, although I suspect fish would be good too (have you had cold salmon on a salad, that is also very good)
