This was a good YA read! A story of self-discovery. Avi doesn't gloss over the bad aspects of being a peasant or a woman in the middle ages, either. It's nice to see a YA novel that doesn't gloss over the negative aspects of that time period, while still delivering a strong and fun adventure.
