Books 2009: What's Eating Gilbert Grape, by Peter Hedges

I've had this on my To Read shelf for several years now. I only vaguely remember the movie--enough so that I knew what the ending would be, but I didn't remember how they got there. The book was really good, really engaging, and I was rooting for Gilbert (although picturing him as Johnny Depp didn't hurt). I'm guessing that everyone has forgotten about this book, but it's actually a very worthwhile read.

I read that like ten years ago, and though I don't remember much about it anymore, just big-picture stuff, I remember I found it to be very affecting.
