A serious Batman fan or comic book enthusiast will eat this book right up. I'm neither, so I just thought it was pretty good--but I loved getting a peek into Gaiman's obvious love for the Caped Crusader.
This book is so, so incredible. It's the most beautiful tribute possible to Batman, I'm sure. Neil manages to capture everything that's essential about the character, while bringing his own Neil-ness to it. I was so incredibly worried about this one, and I cried most of the time while reading it, but oh my god. I've only read it once so far (when the hardcover came out I managed to read the introduction, cried again, decided a proper reread will have to wait), but I quoted pretty much the entire book to my friends afterwards, because it just stuck. That's how good it is.
Among my favourite bits is what Robin says about Bruce. Because again, Neil manages to sum up their relationship in such few words. And oh god, Alfred - that was so creepy.

Anyway, I love this a whole lot. Yes.
