supercheesegirl: (yoga - cute)
Half an hour of yoga this morning. It was really lovely. A couple days ago I bought another wrist brace which is flexible, intended just for support, not immobilization like the other one, so I can wear it for yoga and do wristy things with more support. Today I did plank pushups with no wrist pain, and I did my first upward dog in over a month. The upward dog hurt a little, but manageably, and I think the new wrist brace helped. I also did the standard standing work and a bit of seated work--in particular, I did a couple of seated bendy twisty poses to help this one sore spot on the right side of my lower back.

The only problem with morning yoga is that sometimes (like today!) I want more than half an hour, and in the morning before work I just can't extend my practice if I want to get to work on time. I'm not going to try to get up earlier to fit in an hourlong practice, because on days when I'm really tired, I feel that more sleep and only 30 minutes of yoga would be more beneficial than not enough sleep and an hour of tired draggy yoga. But that doesn't help me on the fit, happy, strong, stretchy days when I want more yoga, and of course those days aren't identifiable until I'm midway through the practice. So, I still need to try to work in some evening yoga somewhere.

But overall I'm liking morning practice better than evening practice. In the mornings, my day hasn't been ruined yet, so I feel fresh for yoga. Sometimes at night when I get home from work I just feel wrecked, or sad, or grumpy, and I don't want to do yoga when I feel like that, plus yoga doesn't always help when I feel like that. (I generally feel like that maybe once or twice a week.) So, doing it in the morning when I'm fresh, before work has had a chance to wreck my spirit, seems like a good option. Although I still really want to try a class somewhere! I need to look into that.
