ok, we're having an ish here over air fare and stuff. here's the deal: jorn and i are attending amy & josh's wedding in rochester new york on saturday august 2. we already have hotel reservations for friday and saturday night, but for complicated reasons, we weren't sure until recently whether we were driving or flying. so we decided we'll fly, because the extra days of work we'd miss by driving would almost pay for the plane fare anyway (besides, driving from north carolina to rochester would seriously blow, and besides which my car has been having reliability issues lately and i don't want to put the car through a big drive unless i have to). and i meant to get the plane tickets like two weeks ago, but the thing with my dad has been a priority and i haven't had time to deal with it till now.
so okay. last night jorn and i looked up plane fares on travelocity, and it would cost us a bit over $200 each to fly. it would've been cheaper had we made reservations two weeks ago, but whateva. we could leave greensboro on friday morning at 10 am or so, have one layover, and get to rochester by 4. we'd miss the rehearsal, but i could get filled in on the gist of my little part in the wedding, i think. but then we'd have to leave rochester at 7am on sunday morning, which would suck ass in a major way. we want to stay out and have fun with our friends on saturday night after the wedding, because i haven't seen amy & josh in two years.
our other option is to fly out of greensboro at 7 am on friday and arrive in rochester around 2--okay so far, and we'd even make it to the rehearsal. but then we'd have to fly home on monday evening. so we'd have to pay for an extra night in the hotel (which there's no guarantee we'd get because there's some golfer thing going on the following week) plus miss that day of work (when the whole point of flying was to make it so we wouldn't miss extra days of work). but it might be worth it so we wouldn't have sunday morning misery.
right now, i think i'm leaning towards option one--departing rochester at 7am on sunday morning--because as jorn said, we can just fucking stay up all night. we could be out at the bar and/or hanging out with sarah till 2am anyway, and then by the time we get back to the hotel and take showers and pack our bags and check out, it would be almost time to go to the airport anyway (because you're still supposed to get there 2 hours before takeoff, right?), so it wouldn't be a major hardship unless we got vomitingly drunk. which we likely won't do. and we can play gameboy and do jumble and sleep on the plane and sleep when we get back to greensboro.
so what do you think we should do? leave me comments, yo.
[edit] okay, i think we're doing the stay-up-all-night thing. so leave me comments if you think we're dumb. we haven't made the plane reservations yet, so i'll get back to ya.
