A really fun fantasy novel. I liked the different characters, particularly the female characters and how they were able to carve out a space for themselves. I also really appreciated the way the "villains" (the king and Valoren) were, by the end of the book, growing as characters and invested in learning more about their world, not just in keeping out things they didn't understand. I would have liked a little more of Brenden, but overall, a really good read.
