Another reread. Having now read these two books back to back, I can now say definitively that I prefer The Hero and the Crown. This book is a lot of fun too, but Aerin is just better. (Although I realize that people tend to prefer whichever of the two they happened to read first--and I did read The Hero and the Crown first.)
It was fun to read them together and see the small little links between the books. Aerin hallucinates and dreams of a girl with a blue sword riding a golden horse to battle; Harry has visions of a red-haired rider on an elderly white horse. When Harry meets Luthe, he's wearing a big red stone on a chain, which we find in the other book that Aerin gave him. Little things like that. I enjoyed that a lot.
