well, i had pretty much the best weekend ever.

friday night was okay. i left work early enough to get home and get changed for frisbee, and i walked down to carr street and was actually on time for once, and i had my new frisbee with me and everything, but there was no one there. seriously, no one at all. and i remembered that tom had moved out of his old place so i couldn't just go knock and see what was up. i ended up going home and calling angie, who said that most of the frisbee crew was out of town for the weekend visiting brian and hardy in VA. oh well. i spent the evening watching my new Shrek dvd with jorn and enjoying myself greatly while jorn got annoyed with it. i see his point about the music in the movie being lame, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it the rest of it, and the donkey was not that bad. anyway, he's good to me for watching it.

saturday. i got up early, took a shower, and then jorn dropped me off at chakras spa for my appointment. first i had my hot stone massage with jenn. wow. jenn is my hero. what they do is heat up these stones so they're like, steaming, and then slick you with essential oils and massage you with the stones. i've had regular massages before but nothing like this. it felt so good. she started out with me laying on my back, and she put a line of stones under me along my spine, and then stones on my tummy and forehead and whatever other chakras there are, and she massaged my arms and legs and feet (the feet! ohhhhhhhhhhh) and then flipped me over and did my back. again i say to you, wow.

after that, i met up with christin (pronounced as if it had an "e" on the end) for my facial. which was also really good. as she was starting out, she asked me what products i usually use on my skin, and i was like, ivory soap? i then confessed my thought that hey maybe now that i'm in my twenties i should be doing something with my skin (it hasn't been all pretty lately--i'm not a blemish monster or anything, but i just haven't been looking spectacular, and i was attributing it to the heat because i was sort of terrified of the skin care aisle at the store--so many products! what do they do? what to choose?). so christin did a masque of something to exfoliate, and then some moisturizing thing, and then some eye cream and then something else. i don't know, it smelled good, and she gave me a hand massage too. and she suggested some skin care products that they carry there and i made mental notes on what they were so i could get similar things at the target later for less than $20 an ounce. yeah.

then i had my manicure, and brooke and i got along great. she was just a sweetie. and my nails look really pretty now, with a nice peachy shimmery color on them. woot!

i ended up running over half an hour later than i thought i would, but they're the ones who scheduled my appointments on top of each other, so whateva. i felt a little bad for jorn, who arrived to pick me up a little after 1pm like i had told him to and then had to wait downstairs for me for 40 minutes. but he was glad that i enjoyed it. we went out for lunch to red lobster, and then jorn treated me to a cookout milkshake. it was a really super day all the way around.

that evening i worked on proofs for a while (i really wish i had written down some of the things kipling says, because he's cracking me right up--i hope langenfeld sends me a copy of the book again like he did with the last one, because it's really good). then jorn went off to the radio, and i tidied up around the house until emily came over a little after 7. she brought brownies. we talked about buffy for a while and then watched Dirty Dancing and it was awesome. we watched all the extras (including featurettes made in 1987 that were hilarious and music videos for "she's like the wind," "hungry eyes," and "i had the time of my life," all of which were extremely entertaining). i was a little worried because i've never hung out with emily just the two of us, but we had a really good time and had lots to chat about, and it was really cool. she hung out for a while, and then jorn came home from the radio with his friend jessica, and he put on the gay pimp video for them, and then evening ended not too long after that. :)

sunday i got up around 10am, washed the dishes, had breakfast, read the paper, and was clipping coupons by the time jorn was up and moving. :) i was thinking that frisbee would be happening later in the day, but that ended up not happening, so it was better that i did in fact take a shower (especially since i still had essential oils and stuff on me from the day before). jorn and i went over to target, which he was thinking would be a quick trip out and which i ruined by shopping for skin care products. i got a gentle foaming cleanser and a moisturizer (both by johnson & johnson, and you can't go wrong with them, right?) and an oil of olay toner. i also got more hair gel and some new underwear and so ended up spending $20 on various beauty products. i immediately felt that i had wasted my money, but now i'm feeling better about it.

when we got home i read proofs for a while, and then jenny hamil called! she's one of jorn's good friends from suusi, and she's awesome. we had the best time--looking at her europe pictures (and then my europe pictures), going out for ice cream, watching Reefer Madness (my god, i'll never smoke reefer again--those brazen hussies!), and then going to nyp with jenny's friend amy who lives in greensboro. amy was supercool and i was wishing i wasn't moving so i could hang with her more. but she might be moving to philly soon anyway. it was awesome just hanging out with cool people and not feeling like i had shit to do that couldn't wait--when jenny called i was able to just drop what i was working on and hang out for hours and hours, and it was awesome. and i was a good girl and did some more proofing when i got home, too.

it was the awesomest weekend. i have i think seven more letters and a few interviews left to read in the kipling book, and i began my new skin care regimen last night--i washed with the cleanser, then applied moisturizer. this morning i washed with the cleanser in the shower and then applied toner. hopefully in a few days i'll be seeing a difference.

oh, and on friday night i preordered Angel season two and put my new boston address as the shipping address. that was exciting. also exciting was that after the free shipping and the $25 gift certificate from my mom, i got the box set (originally priced at $60) for $13.24. rock on, me.

to do:
-finish up the proofs and get them back to langenfeld
-start packing
-call mom tonight if she doesn't call me
-call sarah and tell her she's the best friend in the whole world and i don't deserve her (ie, thanks for the massage gift certificate)

and one more thing: [livejournal.com profile] bloodedangel made me some icons featuring faith and evanescence lyrics. as soon as i get a paid account, i'm going to start using them. awwyeah.
