supercheesegirl: (buffy happy)
i am an excited girl. i got an amazon birthday box from my mom last night (Tales Of The Slayers Vol. 1, and The Dark Crystal on dvd!) so i went on amazon today to take those things off my wish list. and while on my wish list i happened to see that the Buffy seasons 1-4 pack had dropped in price from $180 to $125. for all four seasons! and since yesterday i had figured out that i'm going to be able to completely pay off my mastercard this month, i went ahead and bought it. yay! i'm so happy. soon i'll be able to torment my roommates with all buffybuffybuffy, all the time. yaaaaaaaaay!

also, a present came in the mail for me yesterday that jorn had ordered. i'm not going to say what it is, but [livejournal.com profile] pocketwitch can probably guess. and yes, it's just as great as i've always heard it is.

i've also received birthday gifts in the mail from amy & josh in denver and rose in PA. i am very pleased with the state of my mailbox these days.

i did finish harry potter 5 last night, though, so i'm out of HP books to reread. and the end of book 5 really is a downer. i'm very interested to see what kind of person harry's going to be in book 6. but i have a long time to wait for that, don't i?

so i'm drinking a Nantucket Nectar beverage with my lunch. and you know how the inside of the cap always has some odd tidbit in it, like "all the sailing ships that did blahblahblah launched from Nantucket" or something about juice or whatever? well, today i got one i've never seen before. my juice just told me, "Dave Gordon will always be a swinger." hmm.

The Smiths

about a year or so ago, i was living in greensboro, driving home from somewhere when i heard a song i really liked on the UNCG radio station. when i got home later that night i asked jorn if he knew it. the only characteristics i could identify about the song were that 1) it used guitars, 2) the singer reminded me of the guy from Belle & Sebastian because he sounded british and kind of gay, and 3) this line: "if a double decker bus / crashes into us / to die by your side / is such a heavenly way to die." jorn puzzled about it for a while, called the dj at the station (this being several hours later, it wasn't the same dj who had played the song), and together they figured out that the song was probably by The Smiths.

when we moved to boston, i found out that dannbrown really likes The Smiths, and i kept meaning to borrow something and listen to it. i mentioned this to dann again a week or so ago, and he told me he had a Smiths' singles album that he didn't need, since he had all those songs on their original albums and on his ipod, and he offered to give it to me. last night he left it with my mail. today i listened to it, and i heard that song that i heard for the first time a year or so ago. it's track 18, "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out." it's still a really pretty song.

i feel rather... fulfilled. and satisfied.
