yeah, so i shaved my legs today. first time since february (i think). it's so nice and warm out, and i wanted to wear a short skirt, and i don't have the confidence at this point to wear shorts or a short skirt with furry legs. so they are shaven. only took like 40 minutes, too. and they are very soft and nice.

i should be working on poetry now, but i had a difficult time at work tonight--really hyper kid. wouldn't stop playing with his shoes, of all things. i had to take his shoes away from him. i'm confident, though, that he at least learned one thing tonight--how to spell "shoes". :) so that wiped me out. i hate it when that happens--i plan to do something and it gets messed up. and i'm such a sucker, i can't just tell dan i want fewer hours permanently. grr, me.

and then we went to tex & shirley's for two dollar all-you-can-eat pancakes. and it was good.

has lj been horrible to anyone else lately? it's impossible to get it to load in the evenings at all.

Yeah, I've been having issues getting the pages to load too. I'll get one page, and then when I try to read the comments or move on to something else, it will freeze on me.

leg shaving

There were two periods (a year each) in my life, both in high school, that I refused to shave my legs - probably my sophomore and senior years in high school. This took a little bit of guts in high school, but the environment was somewhat controlled, so I was ok with it. I did have the occasional heckler who offered to braid my leg hairs for me... As I've gotten older, it's gotten a little harder to let the hair grow, especially since I'm not the blonde and wispy angel hair type. My concession is to shave my legs occasionally. In the winter and fall, I rarely do it; in the summer, it depends on the upcoming activity. Bathing suit attire, for example, might call for a leg shaving. It's a big freaking waste of time, though. I have better things to do (I think). On the other hand, it's become somewhat of a weird tribalistic ritual activity the way I do it - like I could mark seasons or moon phases with it.

yo tambien. the only time i've shaved regularly since high school (i stopped wearing shorts regularly after my freshman year) was in january and february, when i was in a play that requred me to wear a skirt that showed my calves. i had the options of shaving my legs once a week or wearing pantyhose. i chose the lesser of the two evils...then i just shaved up to my knees. ;)

i can't imagine people who always shave. it takes me about forty minutes to shave to, and to do that once a week always or even every day...eck. i think replying to random journal people is a much better use of my time than shaving. =)

i shaved pretty regularly, at least every week, until i went on a choir tour in europe for three weeks my junior year in college. i just decided i didn't want to bother with it, and it was really nice. but when i started a secretarial temp job a week or two after i got back, i felt really obligated to shave for work. i feel like leg hair isn't really appropriate with some outfits, as weird as that sounds, like my business suit or my short pleather skirt. hence, i feel restricted from wearing those things when i've got leg hair. and i don't like having things in my closet that i'm not comfortable wearing.

but like danielle said, i typically shave less in winter and more in summer. and i'm blessed with a wonderful boyfriend who really likes me to have leg hair, so that's cool. one of my ex's was grossed out when i stopped shaving my thighs, where my hair is pretty blonde and sparse.

and i definitely agree--i have way better things to do than shave my legs. computer solitaire, for example. :) thanks for commenting!
